SCHOOL IS IN SESSION

TRACY DOYLE WELLNESS

School is in session.

It's that bittersweet time of year again. At least that's how I always felt. Summer is winding down, kids are bord, you're ready to get back into a routine. I thought this would be a good time to talk about kids and nutrition.

We know that food and things like sleep and stress affect very young children. We understand that a toddler with too much sugar and not enough sleep will be cranky and prone to fits. We easily recognize it and adjust for it.

But as kids get a little older and we teach them to behave and control emotions, we seem to lose sight of what influences those emotions. At least I know I did. I didn't think about the food they were eating as causing some emotional struggles. And as life gets busy, boy is it easy to depend on all the convenient foods.

These highly processed foods are full of sugar, artificial dyes and additives and very little to no nutrients!

It's no wonder kids are struggling to stay awake in class then staying awake all night and dragging in the morning to do it all again. Teenagers are more and more reliant on energy drinks and coffee. And younger kids are looking for constant sugar and pop. Worse yet, companies know this and market Garbage "food" directly to kids.

I cringe when I remember that my kids often went off to school with a Pop-tart and Carnation breakfast drink.

Our bodies need food for energy, not just a burst of sugar, but real energy for our brains to retain and process information. Energy for the cells to reproduce and grow into adulthood. Nutrients for proper production of chemicals related to emotions.

This gets even worse for our teenagers. High school can be hard enough to navigate. living on little sleep and a high sugar/caffeine diet, the toddler in them wants to have a meltdown but they know that is not allowed so it gets pushed down inside. It's easy to see how issues like stress and anxiety in our teens is on the rise. and the medical approach to this is to add medications that further effect the chemical balance in the brain.

I'm not against medications when it is needed. But there is a better, healthier and long-lasting answer.

I can help you navigate that tricky world of nutrition. Help you to know what in your child's diet may be compromising their gut health and influencing their emotional health.

When the gut is not working at its best the body cannot function at its best.

Nutrients won't be absorbed properly.

Toxins can't be detoxed and removed from the body.

Chemicals that the body needs to make in order to have good emotional health will not be able to happen.

How do you know if your child is struggling?

Are they waking up in the morning with frequent stomach aches and nausea?

Are they struggling to stay awake in class?

Do they have trouble staying focused or retaining information?

Do they binge on sweets, often preferring brightly colored candy?

These are some signs that there may be a nutritional problem going on.

Contact me for a free Consultation. I'm here to help you and your child get back on track. No matter how bad you think it is, there is always a way to improve. It might be as easy as nutrition.

Herbs can help. Using herbs for support Herbal medicine has been around forever. Before there were pharmaceuticals there were plants and people using them to get well and support the needs of their bodies. I love that herbs support the natural functions of the body. Unlike many pharmaceuticals that force or block the body system into doing something for an end result. There are risks and side effects associated with taking pharmaceuticals and some of those risks can be severe. There is also a...
